MOVA linking is a means by which MOVA junctions in close proximity can be coordinated to ensure progression is maintained on main arterial routes. Knowing the best strategy to implement when designing a linked MOVA junction can be extremely difficult and may not always be obvious, however, microsimulation can help with this problem. This paper looks at the current limitations when designing MOVA linking in a microsimulation environment and introduces a new software tool that can help overcome these problems, giving the engineer both the ability to experiment with linking in a safe environment and the confidence that the strategy will work prior to on-site commissioning.
